All of Scripture is God-breathed; in its inspired voice, we hear useful teaching, rebuke, correction, instruction and training for a life that is right so that God's people may be up to the task ahead and have all they need to accomplish every good work - 2 Timothy 3:16-17, The Voice Bible
I received a complimentary copy of a new Bible translation called The Voice New Testament by Ecclesia Bible Society published by Thomas Nelson, Inc. Much effort was dedicated by scholars and writers to create this translation that is faithful and accurate to the original biblical languages and at the same time beautiful and readable to the present day English readers.
What makes this translation easy to understand are:
- the relevant use of language in the present time while remaining faithful to the original meaning
- the interspersed commentaries or notes (cultural, historical, theological or devotional thoughts) in between the verses and passages so that a reader need not refer to other pages or study guides
- the screenplay format which tells you exactly who is/are speaking and what they said.
I like this new translation of the Bible. It also includes reading plans like the Readings for Lent and Easter which I will share with you in a series of posts in this blog together with my reflection on them. After that, I think I would continue with the Read the New Testament in 24 weeks reading guide. I would certainly love to experience Stepping into the Story of Scripture once again.
